Peanuts is one of my favorite comics. In recent newspaper frames, Snoopy has been dancing all around with his “happy feet.” Then Lucy yelled at him, “You’re not as happy as you thing you are! NOBODY could be that happy!” With that Snoopy stopped dancing and looked very disturbed, sighing, “Perhaps she’s right…”
How many times do we allow other people’s comments to drag us down? Whether it is, “you’re not as happy or smart or pretty or liked or whatever,” it is still only someone’s opinion.
Snoopy regained his joy by reasoning, “On the other hand, maybe I’ve set a new record!”
Snoopy was wise enough to look at criticism from another angle and continued his “happy dance.”
Psalm 118:8 says, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.” When man’s words cause us concern, turning to God’s word will bring us comfort. Drawing closer to God in prayer and Bible study can bring joy to our hearts (and feet). He reminds us that we are His children, who He loves and cherishes.
The next frames of Peanuts show Snoopy resting and Lucy yelling, “You’re having a happiness let down! You were too happy for too many days, and now you’re having a let-down!” It is true that we may not be able to continue our “happy dance” for long periods of time, but our heart can remain filled with joy even if we are let-down.
Some people are just happy to see someone else unhappy. Don’t let them steal the joy God gave you.
How do you handle hurt feelings when someone says unkind things to you?

When people say hurtful things to me, I pray, “I have the mind of Christ. Jesus, do you agree with what they just said?” He shakes His head no. He tells me to forgive them, because they have wounded emotions.Unkind words come from lies. I am gradually learning how to webstream the Holy Spirit and speak His truth over myself and others.
Lynn, I like your reply. I usually feel hurt and make excuses until I remember to go to God in prayer. Then He points out the truth or the fact that I don’t need to feel good or uplifted; I need to be faithful to whatever the Spirit shows me to do/say and leave the results to God. I like your webstream and speaking the truth actions.
I never really thought about it too much. I usually just go on and try to avoid that person until the hurt goes away. Also depends on how deep the hurt is whether you just forgive them or not. I know you have to forgive them but sometimes that is hard to do. I will try to look to God more for forgiving others and try to not hurt others when I talk to them.
