Yesterday was a time to remember the horror of September 11, 2001. Many photos and words were posted on Facebook saying that we will never forget the attack that took many American lives.
Remembering is a good thing when it helps us go forward with wisdom. Shock and pain can give us insight in which to face the future with courage and strength. We do not live in the past but neither do we forget it. Certain days remain in our memory; Pearl Harbor, and the days President Kennedy and Rev. King were killed. The attacks refocused our attention.
The church I attend offers communion each Sunday. Sharing the bread and the juice is a time to remember. None of us remembers the day of Jesus’ death but we know the reason. We are the reason.
That is why Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me.” (Luke 22:19) He died on the cross for each one of us. I cannot imagine what He went through and I do not dwell on the horror of it; but I do not forget.
Truly remembering goes beyond a particular day or symbol. The loss of lives should make us treasure life more dearly and strive to be more compassionate.
What can you do today to remind others of Jesus’ sacrifice?

Thanks Nancy for including me to your blog. I read them all. You are so blessed to be able to share with the rest of us to get us to think about who does God say we are. Yes we must go on but we will always remember those horrible days. And with God we can go on, he will strengthen us. It was so good to see all of you. Thanks so much. Love you Polly
