Have you broken your New Year’s resolutions yet? I read where only 8% of people keep their resolutions beyond two weeks. So I know I’m in the majority. This year was going to be different after all I am seeking God’s will for my life and drawing closer to Him. So naturally I would be more disciplined. Not really.
Even Paul struggled with doing the right thing. In Romans 7:15 he says, “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.” We all have a strong human nature and we do what that nature wants even when we seek to be spiritual.
Making a resolution once a year will not change our worldly habits. We must turn to God and His promises daily, hourly or even minute by minute. Fortunately, we have a loving God who will forgive us minute by minute when we ask.
If you are among the 92% who fail to keep New Year’s resolutions forgive yourself and move ahead, don’t beat yourself up over it. Use this time to re-evaluate your goals but don’t give up on yourself. Your Creator hasn’t.

What are you looking forward to this year? Is God in your plans?
