Welcome!
Congratulations, you are reading my first blog post. I am honored that you have taken the time to stop by. Be sure to sign up for each week’s new post.
To start off, I need to explain my theme, “Who does God say you are?” This is taken from the story in Matthew 16:13-16 where Christ asked His disciples, “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
It wasn’t who the people said Jesus was that mattered in Peter’s life, it was his own belief of who Jesus was that mattered. In the same way, it is not who people say you are that is important. It is who God says you are.
While working at the Soup Kitchen, I have meet people in many different circumstances. Listening to their stories I have seen one issue that runs through each situation; no self-esteem. They feel they do not deserve a better life and accept the gloomy surroundings they are in. No matter how self-worth is destroyed, it can be restored with the proper foundation.
Not only are we to accept ourselves, we are to rejoice in who God made us to be.
Are you happy with who you are? Have you always been? What made the difference?

Regardless of whether or not I am happy with who I am, I am who I am, because God made me. Therefore I need to be me and try to understand what God wants me to be, and work on getting there.
Looking forward to more.
Good question, Nancey. I am at peace with who I am now, because I learned that God loves me, he always did. Even when I thought I should be better, different, wiser, more spiritual, (on and on), He loved me even then. I didn’t have a breakthrough realization of this; it just grew, and one day it dawned on me that He had so loaded me with blessings, He must love me! Besides, I kept reading about how He said He loved me; I finally had to believe it.
Thanks for the reminder. Bless you –
I think that as the Lord created each of us, He gave us our individual potentials, talents, abilities and knew what our individual vices and virtues would be because we were with Him from the beginning. It falls to each of us to discover and develop those talents (like singing! or writing! or being a good listener) and to TRY to conquer the faults and vices as they appear in our carnal existence. Low self-esteem, depression, feelings of not being as good as the other guy are all tools of Satan and he will use them every chance he gets! i’ve certainly fought my battles with the above and when it hits me, I remind myself that Satan is “using” me – and is that what i WANT? BUT I was raised with a Christian foundation as were my children and so many of the “Soup Kitchen” league have nothing “to fall back on” – They have never been taught just how much Heavenly Father LOVES them – each and every one – They really dont KNOW the Lord – and that knowledge comes from so many sources, lessons, people, experiences, books, scriptures etc. I wish I could open everyones spiritual brain and just POUR in His awesome love from a great big white pitcher!!!!!!!…………
I love the last comment you made that “Not only are we to accept ourselves,” but “we are to rejoice in who God made us to be.” A good reminder.
Nancy, Sharon, Great comments. God has created us to be who we are to bring Him glory, even when we recognize our shortcomings (sins) and see we are not that perfect person we want the world to see us as, or who we wish we were. God is Awesome in how He loves and uses us.
I am happy with who I am. I believe God has made me into who I am and what I have done with my life. Good job Nancey. Love you, Aunt Ginger see you soon
